PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. use the words and sentences structures connected with air, water and road transport systems.
2. use the words in sentences of their own.
3. practice skimming for ideas of a passage.
4. do oral and written comprehension.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION TO TENSE

Tense is an action verb that tell the time.

For example:

1. Present tense – something happening now. I eat rice everyday – present tense
2. Past tense – something happened earlier. I ate rice yesterday – past tense
3. Future tense – something going to happen. I will eat rice tomorrow – future tense

PAST TENSE

Past tense is mainly used to express actions or events that happened in the past.

EXAMPLES

1. I went home economics center yesterday.
2. I ate apple this morning.
3. John travelled to America last year.
4. My father died last year.
5. He lived in Lagos.
6. You dropped your bag.

PRESENT TENSE

The present tense is used to express action or events that currently going to happens.

EXAMPLES

1. She goes to school every morning.
2. I always study at school.
3. He understands English.
4. It mixes the sand and the water.
5. She tries very hard.
6. He enjoys playing the game.

FUTURE TENSE

The present tense is used to express actions or events that are yet to happen.
