Meaning of Patriotism

Patriotism means loving your country very much and being ready to do good things for it. A patriotic person is proud of their country and wants it to be successful.

When you are patriotic, you:

• Feel proud to be Nigerian
• Want Nigeria to be great and peaceful
• Care about what happens in your country
• Always speak well of Nigeria

How to Show Patriotism

1. Respect National Symbols

• Stand up when the national anthem is played
• Handle the Nigerian flag with care
• Recite the national pledge with pride
• Learn the words of our national anthem

2. Promoting Our Civic Responsibilities

• Keep your school and community clean
• Obey traffic rules and school rules
• Help elderly people and those in need
• Report bad behavior to adults
• Take care of public property

3. Love and Unity

• Be friends with children from other tribes
• Speak well about Nigeria when talking to others
• Help solve problems peacefully
• Share with people who need help

4. Hard Work and Honesty

• Study hard in school to become useful
