Introduction

Just like we talk to people in different ways – sometimes to say thank you, sometimes to ask for help – we can pray to God in different ways too!

Lesson Content

What is Prayer? Prayer is talking to God. It’s like having a conversation with your best friend who loves you very much.

Types of Prayer

1. Thanksgiving Prayer
   1. Saying thank you to God
   2. Example: “Thank you God for my family”
2. Petition Prayer
   1. Asking God for things we need
   2. Example: “Please help me do well in school”
3. Intercession Prayer
   1. Praying for other people
   2. Example: “Please help my sick friend get better”
4. Confession Prayer
   1. Saying sorry to God for wrong things
   2. Example: “Sorry God, I was mean to my brother”
5. Supplication Prayer
   1. Asking God earnestly for help
   2. Example: “Please God, help my mommy find a job”

Things We Can Pray For

• Our family and friends
• Our health and safety
• Food and clothes
• Good weather
• Peace in our country
• Sick people to get better
• Help with school work
• Forgiveness when we do wrong
