Definition of Simple Machine:

• A simple machine is a tool that makes work easier
• It helps us do things with less effort
• Simple machines help us lift, cut, or move things
• They make our daily tasks simpler and faster

Examples of Simple Machines:

1. LEVER

• What it is: A bar that turns around a point
• Examples:
  1. Scissors (for cutting paper)
  2. Bottle opener
  3. See-saw in the playground
  4. Spoon (when eating soup)

2. Wheel and axle

• What it is: A round object that turns around a center
• Examples:
  1. Bicycle wheels
  2. Car wheels
  3. Door knobs
  4. Steering wheel

3. Inclined plane (slope)

• What it is: A slanted surface that helps move things up
• Examples:
  1. Ramp for wheelchairs
  2. Slide in the playground
  3. Hill or slope on roads

4. SCREW

• What it is: A twisted inclined plane
• Examples:
  1. Bottle caps (twist to open)
  2. Screws that hold things together
  3. Spiral staircase

5. WEDGE

• What it is: Two inclined planes put together
• Examples:
  1. Knife (for cutting food)
  2. Axe (for cutting wood)
  3. Needle (for sewing)

6. PULLEY

• What it is: A wheel with rope that helps lift things
• Examples:
  1. Well pulley (for drawing water)
  2. Flag pole rope
