Learning Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Say how to use simple machines safely
- Know the dangers of misusing simple machines
- Practice safe habits when using simple machines
Introduction:

Children, remember the simple machines we learned about? Today we will learn how to use them safely so we don’t get hurt.
Lesson Content:
Why We Need to Be Safe with Simple Machines:
- Simple machines can hurt us if not used properly
- They can cut, pinch, or crush our fingers
- Safe use helps machines last longer
- Following rules keeps everyone happy and healthy
Safety Rules for Different Simple Machines:
SCISSORS (Lever):

- Always cut away from your body
- Hold scissors properly with thumb and fingers
- Do not run while holding scissors
- Pass scissors to others handle-first
- Keep scissors closed when not cutting
- Never point scissors at anyone
KNIVES (Wedge):

- Only use with adult help
- Cut away from your fingers
- Keep knife on cutting board
- Wash and dry carefully
- Store knives safely away from children
- Never play with knives
WHEELS (Wheel and Axle):
- Check that wheels are not loose
- Do not put fingers in moving wheels
- Wear helmet when riding bicycle
- Look where you are going
- Stop bicycle properly
- Keep wheels clean and oiled
SLIDES (Inclined Plane):

- Climb up stairs, not the slide part
- Sit properly before sliding down
- One person at a time on slide
- Check slide is not too hot or wet
- Hold handrails when climbing
- Wait for person to clear bottom before sliding
SCREWS:

- Turn screws gently, do not force them
- Use correct size screwdriver
- Ask adult to help with screws
- Do not put screws in mouth
- Keep screws in safe container
- Be careful not to drop screws
PULLEYS:

- Check rope is not worn or broken
- Pull gently, do not jerk
- Make sure nothing is under heavy objects
- Ask adult help for heavy things
- Keep fingers away from moving parts
- Stand clear when lowering objects
General Safety Rules:
- Ask for Help: Always ask adults when unsure
- Use Correctly: Use each machine for its proper job
- Keep Clean: Clean machines after use
- Store Safely: Put machines away properly
- Check First: Look for damage before using
- Focus: Pay attention when using any machine
Class Activity:
Teacher shows different simple machines. Children take turns explaining one safety rule for each machine.
