WHAT IS WORK?

Work, job, occupation, or activity refers to any human effort that can be mental or physical, fashioned or tailored towards earning a living. Man uses his earnings or income to solve the problems of his basic needs such as shelter, food, and clothing. 

WHAT IS ATTITUDE?

Attitude is an organized and consistent manner of thinking, feeling, and reacting to people, groups, and social issues in one’s environment. Attitude is a learnable habit that can be done knowingly or unknowingly in the course of education or training. Attitude is important for survival and for any person to acquire. It is therefore a consistent regard for certain people, an objective way of thinking about an event. Consistent way of feeling towards political, economic, and cultural issues. A consistent way of acting or reacting to such issues. 

WHAT IS THE RIGHT ATTITUDE TO WORK?

The right attitude to work refers to the positive practice of doing activities or jobs duties or functions with every form of seriousness. It shows the willingness and ability to engage in group or collective work for the sole aim of helping oneself and mankind. Attitude to work is the way or manner in which we do or attend to our duties or work. 

For any Nation to make progress or develop, its citizens must have the right attitude to work. A nation may have abundant resources but if the people do not have the right attitude to work, its resources cannot be well managed. 

The right attitude to work includes commitment; selflessness; dedication to work; punctuality; efficiency; hard work; discipline; etc. 

The right attitude to work brings increased productivity and leads to progress, growth, and development.

IMPORTANCE AND REWARD OF HAVING THE RIGHT ATTITUDE TO WORK 

The rewards or importance of having the right attitude to work by individuals and organizations are numerous. 

When every member of staff can demonstrate the right attitude to work, the following benefits will be achieved both at individual and organizational levels.

1. Higher productivity: The right attitude to work promotes productivity, if people face their work with honesty, dedication, and commitment, the positive result would be an increased volume and value of goods and services. 
2. Improved national image: The right attitude to work attracts respect and recognition for a country. A country that has a reputation for hard work, honesty, and integrity would be respected all over the world. 
3. Progress/Development: Any society whose people have the right attitude to work will progress economically, politically, and socially. 
4. Recognition: The right attitude to work attracts recognition from individuals and the community. This recognition comes in the form of price, rewards, and commendations. 
5. Efficiency: The right attitude to work leads to efficiency which would in turn promote economic, political, and social development. 
6. It leads to unity: The right attitude to work leads to cooperation and healthy competition amongst Individuals, organizations, and countries for effective economic and political development
