The School Sports Day Accident

Last Friday was our annual sports day at Government Primary School, Ikeja. Students, teachers, and parents gathered excitedly on the school field to watch various competitions. The atmosphere was filled with cheers and excitement as different events took place.

During the 100-meter race for Primary 5 students, something unexpected happened. Tunde, who was leading the race, suddenly stumbled and fell heavily on the track. His knee was bleeding, and he couldn’t stand up properly.

Mrs. Adebayo, our sports teacher, immediately rushed to help him. She called for the school first aid box while other teachers cleared the area. Tunde was crying because of the pain, but Mrs. Adebayo gently cleaned his wound and applied a bandage.

The school quickly contacted Tunde’s parents, and his father arrived within fifteen minutes. Together with the teacher, they took Tunde to the nearby clinic for proper medical attention. Fortunately, the doctor said it was just a minor injury that would heal in a few days.

The sports day continued, but everyone felt sorry for Tunde. His classmates made get-well cards for him, and the headmaster announced that Tunde would receive a special award for his sportsmanship during the next assembly.
