Topic: Whole Numbers (270-300) And Number Writing

Learning Objectives

By the end of this week, pupils should be able to:

  • Count numbers from 1-300 confidently
  • Write numbers from 1-300 in numerals
  • Write numbers up to 200 in words
  • Skip count in 2s, 3s, 5s, and 10s up to 300
  • Identify numbers at random
  • Read and write numbers in reverse order

 

Lesson Content

Day 1-2: Mastering 270-300

Focus Numbers: 270-300

  • Practice counting from 270 to 300
  • Learn to recognize these numbers quickly
  • Understand the pattern: 270, 271, 272… 299, 300

Number Formation:

  • Practice writing numbers 270-300 clearly
  • Pay attention to number shapes and sizes
  • Use lined paper for neat writing

Day 3: Writing Numbers in Words

Numbers in Words (1-200):

  • One to twenty: one, two, three… twenty
  • Twenty-one to ninety-nine: twenty-one, thirty-five, sixty-seven
  • One hundred to two hundred: one hundred, one hundred and fifty, two hundred

Examples:

  • 45 = forty-five
  • 67 = sixty-seven
  • 123 = one hundred and twenty-three
  • 189 = one hundred and eighty-nine

Day 4: Skip Counting Mastery

Skip Counting in Different Numbers:

In 2s: 2, 4, 6, 8… up to 300 In 3s: 3, 6, 9, 12… up to 300 In 5s: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25… up to 300 In 10s: 10, 20, 30, 40… up to 300

Day 5: Reverse Counting

Counting Backwards:

  • Count backwards from 20 to 1
  • Count backwards from 50 to 40
  • Count backwards from 100 to 90

Random Number Identification:

  • Quick recognition of numbers shown on cards
  • Finding numbers on a hundred square
  • Number games and activities

 

Examples in Class

Number Writing Example:

In Numerals: 156, 234, 298 In Words:

  • 156 = one hundred and fifty-six
  • 234 = two hundred and thirty-four
  • 298 = two hundred and ninety-eight

Skip Counting Examples:

  • By 5s: “5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30” (helps with telling time later!)
  • By 10s: “10, 20, 30… 300” (helps with money!)

Reverse Counting Example:

“Let’s count down like a rocket launch: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, BLAST OFF!”
