What is the /ai/ Sound?
The /ai/ sound is made when we put ‘a’ and ‘i’ together. It sounds like the name of the letter ‘A’ – “ay.”
How to Make the /ai/ Sound
- Open your mouth wide
- Say “ay” like in “play”
- Your tongue stays low
- The sound is long and clear
Words with /ai/ Sound
Common /ai/ Words:
- rain – water from clouds
- pain – when something hurts
- main – the most important
- train – moves on railway tracks
- brain – inside your head, helps you think
- chain – links connected together
- plain – simple, not fancy
- stain – a dirty mark
