Civil society

Civil society is the wide array of non-governmental and not-for-profit organisations that have a presence in public life, expressing the interests and values of their members or others, based on ethical, cultural, political, scientific, religious or philanthropic considerations.

 Examples of civil society groups in Nigeria

1. Oodua People’s Congress(OPC)
2. Arewa People’s Congress
3. Ohanaeze Ndigbo
4. Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC)
5. Red Cross Society
6. Boys Scout
7. Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU)

9. Movement for the emancipation of Niger Delta
