SOCIALIZATION
PROCESSES OF SOCIALIZATION
- Education- this involves the various earning processes by which a society transmits its knowledge, skills, customs, and values from one generation to another. It could be formal or informal.
- Apprenticeship-this is a situation whereby a person learns a skill, trade, practice, value, profession, customs, system, or an activity mostly to earn a living.
- Imitation- This is copying another individual’s actions
- Language- it is the means through which culture is transmitted from parents to the child

IMPORTANCE OF SOCIALIZATION
- it transforms a biological being into a social being
- it contributes to the development of a person
- it enables an individual to become disciplined
- it helps to enact different roles
- it helps an individual to develop the right aspirations in life
- it contributes to the stability of social order
- it reduces social discrimination
- It promotes societal values
- it helps in building a brighter future
- it provides knowledge of skills

EFFECTS OF SOCIALIZATION
- it provides individuals with the skills and habits necessary for participating in their society
- it helps an individual to become obedient to rules and regulations within his or her environment
- it helps an individual to learn how to empathize and show compassion towards others
- it teaches an individual how to be orderly and maintain instructions, especially in public affairs
- it helps an individual to develop friendship and social skills beneficial throughout life
- it helps to transmit social and cultural values and norms to the future generations of society
