La Révision De L’Examen – JSS1 French Lesson Note (Third Term)

La révision de l’examen is a revision of French for JSS1 third term. It covers how to talk about the weather and the seasons in Africa and Europe, how to describe people with adjectives, and how to give personal information such as age, date of birth, first name, home town, languages spoken and nationality.

Behavioural objectives

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

• ask and answer questions about the weather in French;
• name the seasons in Africa and in Europe in French;
• describe people using adjectives such as grand, mince, gentil and charmant;
• give their age, date of birth, first name, town, languages and nationality in French.

How do we talk about the weather and the seasons in French?

Quel temps fait-il aujourd’hui ?

• Il fait beau.
• Il fait du vent.
• Il fait du soleil.
• Il fait chaud.
• Il fait froid.
• Il fait mauvais.
• Il fait frais.
• Il fait d’harmattan.
• Il fait chaud pendant la saison sèche.
• Il fait froid pendant la saison de pluie.

Les saisons

Il y a deux saisons en Afrique: la saison de pluie et la saison sèche.

En Europe, il y a quatre saisons. Ce sont:

• le printemps
• l’été
• l’automne
• l’hiver

• Il est grand et mince.
• Elle est petite et courte.
• Je suis mince et belle.
• Nous sommes faibles et gentils.
• Vous êtes intelligents et forts.
• Tu es amical et aimable.
• Ils sont gros et charmants.
• Elles sont noires et belles.

How do we give personal information?

• Vous avez quel âge ? J’ai douze ans.
• Tu as dix ans.
• Quand es-tu né ? Je suis né le dix-sept janvier deux mille dix.
• Quel est ton prénom ? Mon prénom est Abu.
• Où habites-tu ? J’habite à Lagos.
• Quelle langue parles-tu ? Je parle anglais, français et igbo.
• Quelle est votre nationalité ? Je suis nigérian.

Evaluation

1. Ask in French what the weather is like today.
2. Name the four seasons in Europe in French.
3. How many seasons are there in Africa? Name them in French.
4. Say in French: “I am twelve years old.”
5. Answer in French: Quelle est votre nationalité ?
