Consequences of Non: Performance of Obligations – JSS1 Civic Education Lesson Note (Second Term)

When citizens do not perform their obligations, the nation and the people suffer. The results include lack of national progress, breakdown of law and order, rising crime, poor leadership, punishment by the law and loss of confidence in the nation. This note lists ten of these consequences.

What are the consequences of non-performance of obligations?

1. Lack of national progress and development, as there will be insufficient finance for various government projects.
2. Breakdown of law and order in society.
3. Low moral standards and a low level of discipline among citizens.
4. High prevalence of crime in society.
5. Unhealthy environment, leading to pollution and health problems.
6. Physical punishment or sanction of citizens by the law for disobeying laid down laws.
7. Low investment from foreign investors.
8. Inability of the government to provide adequate basic amenities for the people.
9. Bad leadership as a result of wrong people being voted into power.
10. Loss of confidence in the nation.
