What is Cleaning?

Cleaning is the process of removing dirt, dust, germs, and unwanted materials from surfaces, objects, and spaces to make them neat, healthy, and pleasant.

Reasons for Cleaning

  1. Health Reasons:
  • Prevents the spread of diseases and infections
  • Removes germs and bacteria that can cause illness
  • Reduces allergies caused by dust and dirt
  • Creates a healthy living environment
  1. Aesthetic Reasons:
  • Makes our surroundings look beautiful and attractive
  • Creates a pleasant atmosphere for living and learning
  • Improves the appearance of our homes and classrooms
  1. Safety Reasons:
  • Prevents accidents caused by scattered objects
  • Removes hazardous materials that can cause harm
  • Creates safe pathways for movement
  1. Social Reasons:
  • Shows respect for ourselves and others
  • Creates a welcoming environment for visitors
  • Demonstrates good character and discipline

Basic Cleaning Tools and Agents

Tools:

  • Brooms and brushes
  • Mops and buckets
  • Dusters and cleaning cloths
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Scrubbing brushes

Cleaning Agents:

  • Water (universal solvent)
  • Soap and detergents
  • Disinfectants
  • Bleach (for tough stains)
  • Natural cleaners (vinegar, lemon)

Guidelines for Cleaning

  1. Start from top to bottom (ceiling to floor)
  2. Work from clean areas to dirty areas
  3. Use appropriate tools for different surfaces
  4. Wear protective clothing when necessary
  5. Ventilate the area being cleaned
  6. Store cleaning materials safely after use
