What is Government?

Government is the machinery that directs the affairs of the people. It is a body of people that governs a community or unit, making and enforcing laws and maintaining order.

Government involves different groups or bodies that work together to get a job done. The government also establishes and maintains order, provides public services, ensures national security, makes economic decisions, and protects individual rights.

The major concern with government is to help keep people safe and make sure everything runs smoothly through the establishment of laws, policies, and regulations that guide the behavior of citizens.

Types and Forms of Government Practiced in Nigeria

Nigeria is a federal republic, which means the country is governed by elected representatives who make decisions instead of a monarch. A federal government means that power is shared between the national government and state governments. The federal government is responsible for making decisions that affect the entire country.
