Important Roles of Community Leaders:
- SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES:
What is a Dispute? A dispute is a disagreement or quarrel between two or more people. When people cannot agree on something and become angry with each other, it becomes a dispute.
Examples of Disputes:
- Land boundary problems between neighbors
- Disagreements over money or property
- Family quarrels about inheritance
- Market disputes between traders and customers
- Conflicts between different groups
How Leaders Settle Disputes:
- Listen to all sides of the problem
- Ask questions to understand what happened
- Give fair judgment based on truth
- Help people find solutions that satisfy everyone
- Use traditional laws and customs to make decisions
- Sometimes involve elders to help make decisions

- Organize meetings to talk about community problems
- Teach people how to live together peacefully
- Work with security agencies when necessary
Signs of Peace in the Community:

- ORGANIZING COMMUNITY WORK:
What is Community Work? Community work is when everyone in the community comes together to do something that benefits everyone.
Examples of Community Work:
- Cleaning the community roads and gutters

- Digging wells for clean water
- Building community health centers
- Organizing festivals and celebrations
- Planting trees and flowers
How Leaders Organize Community Work:
- Announce the work to be done
- Set dates and times for the work

What Does This Mean? Community leaders serve as a bridge between the government (people in power) and ordinary people in the community.

- Invite government officials to community events
Examples of This Role:
- Telling government about bad roads in the community
