Topic: Modes of Greeting
What is Greeting?
Greeting is how we say “hello” and show respect to people when we meet them.
Different Ways to Greet
- Verbal Greetings (Using Words)
- “Good morning”
- “Good afternoon”
- “Hello”
- “How are you?”
- Physical Greetings (Using Body)
- Handshake
- Wave your hand
- Bow your head
- Hug (for family)
- Cultural Greetings (Nigerian Ways)
- Yoruba: “E kaaro” (Good morning)
- Igbo: “Ndewo” (Hello)
- Hausa: “Sannu” (Hello)
- Prostrating (lying flat) for elders
EXERCISES
Exercise 1: Choose the Right Greeting
Circle the best greeting for each time:
- At 7:00 AM: Good morning / Good night
- At 2:00 PM: Good morning / Good afternoon
- At 8:00 PM: Good evening / Good morning
