How to Type in Microsoft Word
Starting to Type:
- Open Microsoft Word
- You see a blank white page
- A blinking cursor shows where to type
- Just start typing – letters appear on screen
Basic Typing Tips:
- Use both hands when typing
- Space bar makes spaces between words
- Enter key starts a new line
- Backspace deletes mistakes
- Caps Lock makes all letters BIG
Making Text Look Good:
- Bold – select text, click B button
- Bigger letters – change font size to 14 or 16
- Different colors – click font color button
- Center text – click center alignment button
How to Save Your Work
Saving Steps:
- Click File menu at top
- Click Save (or press Ctrl + S)
- Type a name for your document
- Choose where to save (Desktop or Documents)
- Click Save button
Why Save is Important:
- Protects your work from being lost
- Lets you open it later to continue
- Shares with others easily
- Keeps backup copy safe
Save Often:
- Save every 5 minutes while working
- Save before closing the program
- Save with different names for different versions
