What is a Menu Bar?

The menu bar is a row of words at the top of Microsoft Word that gives you lists of commands when you click on them.
Main Menu Items
File Menu:
- New – Create new document
- Open – Open existing document
- Save – Save your work
- Save As – Save with new name
- Print – Make paper copy
- Close – Close current document
- Exit – Close Microsoft Word
Edit Menu:
- Undo – Cancel last action
- Redo – Bring back undone action
- Cut – Remove selected text
- Copy – Make copy of text
- Paste – Put copied text somewhere
- Find – Search for specific words
- Replace – Change one word to another
View Menu:
- Normal – Regular view for typing
- Print Layout – Shows how document will print
- Zoom – Make page bigger or smaller
- Toolbar – Show or hide toolbars
- Ruler – Show measuring ruler
Insert Menu:
- Page Break – Start new page
- Picture – Add photos or images
- Table – Create rows and columns
- Symbols – Add special characters (©, ®, â„¢)
- Date and Time – Insert current date
Format Menu:
- Font – Change text style and size
- Paragraph – Change spacing and alignment
- Bullets and Numbering – Make lists
- Page Setup – Change page size and margins
