Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Identify shapes of objects in/outside the classroom
- Draw different basic shapes and label correctly
- Identify shapes with similar real objects around them
Introduction
Welcome back to school! Today we will learn about shapes. Shapes are all around us. Look around the classroom and you will see many different shapes.
Content
What are Shapes? Shapes are the forms of objects we see around us. The main basic shapes are:
- Circle – round like an orange or a clock

- Square – has 4 equal sides like a window

- Rectangle – has 4 sides, 2 long and 2 short, like a door

- Triangle – has 3 sides like a roof

Examples of Shapes in Real Objects:
- Orange = Circle

- Desk = Rectangle

- Cup = Circle (top view)

- Tin = Circle and Rectangle
- Notebook = Rectangle

Activity
Draw and color these shapes:
- Draw a circle and write “CIRCLE”
- Draw a square and write “SQUARE”
- Draw a rectangle and write “RECTANGLE”
- Draw a triangle and write “TRIANGLE”
