Topic: Organization Of Colour – Basic Colours
Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Mix basic colours (Red, Blue, Yellow) to get secondary colours
- Identify secondary colours in/outside the classroom
- Form a colour wheel, showing the basic and secondary colours
Introduction
When we mix the basic colors together, we get new colors! These new colors are called secondary colors.
Content
Color Mixing: When we mix basic colors, we get secondary colors:
- RED + YELLOW = ORANGE

- BLUE + YELLOW = GREEN

- RED + BLUE = PURPLE

Secondary Colors:
- ORANGE – like oranges, carrots, pumpkins

GREEN – like grass, leaves, trees

PURPLE – like grapes, some flowers

The Color Wheel: A color wheel shows how colors are organized:
- Basic colors are at the top
- Secondary colors are between the basic colors that make them
Examples Around Us:
- Orange: Oranges, sunset, basketball
- Green: Plants, grass, traffic light
- Purple: Eggplant, some flowers, grapes
Activity
- Mix red and yellow paint to make orange
- Mix blue and yellow to make green
- Mix red and blue to make purple
- Draw a simple color wheel
