  • Best for large projects

PULP METHOD

  • Soak paper until soft
  • Blend into pulp
  • Mix with paste
  • Mold directly into shape
  • Good for detailed work
  • Creates solid forms

LAYERING METHOD

  • Use whole sheets of paper
  • Apply paste with brush
  • Smooth over form
  • Build up layers
  • Good for smooth surfaces
  • Quick coverage

  4. Provides stronger bond

STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS

PREPARE WORKSPACE

  • Cover surfaces with plastic
  • Gather all materials
  • Wear old clothes
  • Have cleaning supplies ready

CREATE ARMATURE

  • Design basic shape
  • Build support structure
  • Ensure stability
  • Plan for removal if needed

PREPARE PAPER

  • Tear into appropriate sizes
  • Direction of tear matters
  • Rough edges blend better
  • Have plenty ready

MIX PASTE

  • Follow recipe proportions
  • Achieve cream consistency
  • Make enough for session
  • Keep covered while working

APPLY FIRST LAYER

  • Dip strips in paste
  • Remove excess paste
  • Apply smoothly
  • Overlap strips
  • Cover entire surface

ADD MORE LAYERS

  • Allow drying between layers
  • Alternate strip directions
  • Build strength gradually
  • Minimum 3-4 layers
  • More for structural pieces

DRYING PROCESS

  • Air dry naturally
  • Use fan for faster drying
  • Avoid direct heat
  • Check for soft spots
  • May take 24-48 hours

FINISHING TOUCHES

  • Sand rough areas
  • Apply primer coat
  • Paint as desired
  • Add decorative elements
  • Seal with varnish
