  • Identify types of craft (paper craft, fabric craft, woven craft) in/outside the classroom
  • State the uses of craft in/outside the classroom
  • List some materials used in craft making

Introduction

Crafts are beautiful things we make with our hands using different materials. Today we will learn about different types of crafts and how to make them.

Content

What is Craft? Craft is:

  • Making beautiful things with our hands
  • Using materials to create useful objects
  • Art that can be used in daily life
  • Creative work that shows skill

Types of Craft:

  1. Paper Craft – made with paper

Paper flowers, fans, boxes, cards

Fabric Craft – made with cloth

Sewing, embroidery, tie and dye

  1. Woven Craft – made by weaving

Baskets, mats, bags

Uses of Craft:

  • Decoration – make places beautiful
  • Gifts – give to friends and family
  • Storage – baskets and boxes
  • Clothing – fabric crafts for wearing
  • Learning – practice using our hands
  • Income – can be sold for money

Materials Used in Craft Making:

  • Paper – colored paper, cardboard
  • Glue – to stick things together
  • Scissors – to cut materials
  • Colors – crayons, paints, markers
  • Fabric – cloth, thread, needle
  • Natural materials – leaves, seeds, grass

  1. Make a simple paper fan

  3. Plan a simple craft project
  4. Practice cutting and gluing paper
