Topic: The Senses – Sight
Learning Objectives: By the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to:
- use the sense of sight to observe and name various objects around them, their shapes, colors, and sizes
- Appraise the importance of the eye as the sense of sight
Lesson Content:
Meaning of Sight: Sight is the ability to see things around us using our eyes. It helps us know what things look like.
The Eye – Organ of Sight:

- Eyes are the organs we use for seeing
- We have two eyes on our face
- Eyes help us see during the day
- Eyes need light to see properly
Parts of the Eye:
- Eyelids: Protect the eyes
- Eyelashes: Keep dust away from eyes
- Eyebrows: Stop sweat from entering eyes
- Pupil: The black part in the center
- Iris: The colored part of the eye
What We Can See with Our Eyes:
Shapes:
- Round: Ball, orange, wheel
- Square: Book, window, box
- Triangle: Roof, slice of pizza
- Rectangle: Door, blackboard, table
Colors:
- Primary colors: Red, blue, yellow
- Other colors: Green, orange, purple, black, white
- Examples: Red apple, blue sky, yellow sun, green grass
Sizes:
- Big: Elephant, car, house, tree
- Small: Ant, pen, button, coin
- Medium: Cat, chair, book, plate
Importance of the Eye:
- Helps us see where we are going
- Helps us recognize people we know
- Helps us learn by reading and watching
- Warns us of danger
- Helps us enjoy beautiful things
- Helps us do our work properly
Taking Care of Our Eyes:
- Don’t rub eyes with dirty hands
- Don’t look directly at the sun
- Read in good light
- Wash face and eyes with clean water
- Tell adults if eyes hurt
- Wear protective glasses when needed
