Topic: Features Of System Unit
Learning Objectives: By the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to:
- identify the different features of the CPU and state its functions

More CPU Features (Detailed Review):
Inside the CPU Box: Although we mainly see the outside, inside the CPU box there are important parts:
- Motherboard: Main circuit board that connects everything
- Memory (RAM): Temporary storage for programs being used
- Hard Drive: Permanent storage for all files and programs
- Power Supply: Converts electricity to power computer parts
External Features (Detailed):
Types of Ports:
- USB Ports: Usually 4-8 ports for many devices
- Audio Ports: Usually 3 – for speakers, microphone, headphones
- Video Port: For monitor connection
- Ethernet Port: For internet cable
- Power Port: Only one for power cable
Types of Buttons:
- Power Button: Usually round, sometimes with power symbol
- Reset Button: Usually small, sometimes hidden
- Disc Eject Button: If computer has CD/DVD drive
Indicator Lights:
- Power LED: Shows computer is on (usually green or blue)
- Hard Drive LED: Flashes when computer is working
- Network LED: Shows internet connection
Functions Summary: Each feature has a specific job to help the computer work properly and connect with other devices we need.
Safety with CPU:
- Don’t block air vents (computer needs to breathe)
- Keep liquids away from all ports
- Don’t force connectors into wrong ports
- Turn off computer before connecting new devices
- Keep CPU in clean, dry place
