Topic: Introduction To Cultural & Creative Art

Cultural and creative art is a new concept that merges three areas of disciplines namely Visual Arts, Music, and Drama/Theatre as one subject.

DEFINITION OF CULTURAL AND CREATIVE ARTSĀ

Cultural and Creative Arts is a subject that studies human beings in their beautiful environment together with their culture, how they communicate within the culture, the degree of their appreciation for the works of art, and the preservation of their culture.

The creative and cultural sector refers to the individuals and organizations involved in creating, preserving, and sharing cultural and artistic works. These workers are often independent artists, self-employed entrepreneurs, and micro-businesses who create, participate in, and consume culture.

THE THREE AREAS OF CULTURAL AND CREATIVE ARTSĀ

The three areas of cultural and creative arts are:

  1. Visual Arts
  2. Music
  3. Drama/Theatre

These three areas reflect the cultural ways, societal interests, and beliefs of the people. They cannot be separated from our ways of life which is our culture.

Visual arts refers to art forms that create works which are primarily visual in nature. These include:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Sculpture
  • Photography
  • Ceramics
  • Textile design
  • Graphics

Visual arts use materials from our environment to create objects that can be seen and touched.

MUSICĀ

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ART AND CULTUREĀ

Art, music, and drama cannot be separated from our ways of life which is our culture. Art materials are what make our culture. Therefore creative art and culture cannot be separated. The relationship includes:

  1. Art reflects culture – traditional designs, music, and performances show our cultural values
  2. Culture shapes art – our environment and beliefs influence what art we create
  3. Art preserves culture – through visual records, songs, and stories we maintain our traditions

HISTORY OF CULTURAL AND CREATIVE ARTSĀ
