Cultural and creative art is a new concept that merges three areas of disciplines namely Visual Arts, Music, and Drama/Theatre as one subject.
DEFINITION OF CULTURAL AND CREATIVE ARTSĀ
Cultural and Creative Arts is a subject that studies human beings in their beautiful environment together with their culture, how they communicate within the culture, the degree of their appreciation for the works of art, and the preservation of their culture.
The creative and cultural sector refers to the individuals and organizations involved in creating, preserving, and sharing cultural and artistic works. These workers are often independent artists, self-employed entrepreneurs, and micro-businesses who create, participate in, and consume culture.
THE THREE AREAS OF CULTURAL AND CREATIVE ARTSĀ
The three areas of cultural and creative arts are:
- Visual Arts
- Music
- Drama/Theatre
These three areas reflect the cultural ways, societal interests, and beliefs of the people. They cannot be separated from our ways of life which is our culture.

Visual arts refers to art forms that create works which are primarily visual in nature. These include:
- Drawing
- Painting
- Sculpture
- Photography
- Ceramics
- Textile design
- Graphics
Visual arts use materials from our environment to create objects that can be seen and touched.
MUSICĀ
Music can be defined as the arrangement of both natural and artificial sounds which is pleasant to the ears. Music has been called the language of emotions because it aims to communicate meaning through organized sound.
Music includes:
- Singing
- Playing instruments
- Composing
- Traditional songs
- Modern music forms
DRAMA/THEATREĀ
Drama is an art form that tells a story through the speeches and actions of characters. In drama, actors and actresses impersonate characters before an audience in a theatre.
Drama includes:
- Acting
- Stage performance
- Traditional performances
- Storytelling
- Theatre productions
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ART AND CULTUREĀ
Art, music, and drama cannot be separated from our ways of life which is our culture. Art materials are what make our culture. Therefore creative art and culture cannot be separated. The relationship includes:
- Art reflects culture – traditional designs, music, and performances show our cultural values
- Culture shapes art – our environment and beliefs influence what art we create
- Art preserves culture – through visual records, songs, and stories we maintain our traditions
