Importance of Agriculture

The three major importance of agriculture to man are

• Food – this is the most important contribution of Agriculture to man because food is required for survival. People need food to live. Farm animals also need food. The foods could be meat, eggs, and milk from farm animals and products from many different crops such as yam, rice, maize, e.t.c.
• Clothing – Agriculture provides fibre, silk, and cotton from plants for textile production, hides, and skin as well as wool from sheep for clothing, belts, and bags. Agriculture has played a vital role in our today’s fashion and clothing lines.
• Shelter- through agriculture, 

Other importance of agriculture to the nation are; 

• Provision of raw materials for agro-allied industries
• Employment or job opportunity
• Foreign exchange Earning
• Source of income
• Provision of a market for industrial goods
• Revenue
