Introduction

  • Begin with “Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh”
  • Recite “A’udhu billahi min ash-shaytani’r-rajim” and “Bismillahi’r-Rahmani’r-Rahim”
  • Explain that we are learning a chapter (Surah) from the Holy Qur’an

Verses 1-3 in Arabic

Verse 1: تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ “Tabbat yada Abi Lahabin wa tabb”

Verse 2: مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ “Ma aghna ‘anhu maluhu wa ma kasab”

Verse 3: سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ “Sa-yasla naran thata lahab”

Simple Meanings

Verse 1: “May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he.”

  • This verse speaks about Abu Lahab, who was an enemy of Islam
  • It shows that Allah does not like people who fight against His message

Verse 2: “His wealth will not benefit him, nor what he earned.”

  • This teaches us that money and possessions cannot save someone who does wrong
  • Only good deeds and faith in Allah matter

Verse 3: “He will burn in a Fire of blazing flame.”

  • This tells us about the punishment for those who oppose Allah
  • It reminds us to always choose what is right
