Topic: History Of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) From Birth To His Marriage
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Narrate the history of Prophet Muhammad from his birth to his childhood
- Examine the lesson contained in his business, association with Khadijah and his marriage to her
- Apply these lessons to daily activities
Materials Needed
- Pictures of Makkah and Ka’bah
- Story book about Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)
- Simple trading items for business demonstration
Introduction
- Greet with “Assalamu Alaikum”
- Ask: “Who is the last Prophet of Allah?”
- Explain we will learn about Prophet Muhammad’s (ﷺ) early life
- Tell pupils he is our beloved Prophet

The Birth of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)
When and Where:
- Born in Makkah in the year 570 CE
- Born on a Monday (12th Rabi’ al-Awwal)
- His father Abdullah died before he was born
- His mother was Aminah
Special Signs at Birth:
- Light filled the house when he was born
- His mother saw a light that reached far places
- He was born clean and pure
- Angels protected him from evil
Early Childhood
With His Mother Aminah:
- Aminah loved her baby very much
- She took good care of him
- When he was 6 years old, Aminah died
- This made little Muhammad (ﷺ) very sad
With His Grandfather Abdul-Muttalib:
- After his mother died, his grandfather took care of him
- Abdul-Muttalib loved him very much
- He would take Muhammad (ﷺ) to sit near the Ka’bah
- When Muhammad (ﷺ) was 8, his grandfather also died
With His Uncle Abu Talib:
- Abu Talib became his guardian
- Abu Talib was his father’s brother
- He treated Muhammad (ﷺ) like his own son
- Abu Talib protected him and cared for him
- They lived together happily
His Character as a Young Man
Known for Good Qualities:
- People called him “As-Sadiq” (The Truthful)
- They called him “Al-Amin” (The Trustworthy)
- He never told lies
- He always kept his promises
- He was kind to everyone
His Behavior:
- He helped poor people
- He was gentle with animals
- He never got into fights
- He always spoke politely
- Everyone respected him
His Business Life
Learning Trade:
- Abu Talib taught him how to do business
- He learned to buy and sell things honestly
- He traveled with trading caravans
- He was very honest in all his dealings
- People trusted him with their money and goods
His Reputation:
- Other traders respected him
- He never cheated anyone
- He always gave fair prices
- He was patient with customers
- He became known as the best trader in Makkah
Meeting Khadijah (RA)
Who Was Khadijah:
- Khadijah was a rich businesswoman
- She was honest and respected
- She owned trading caravans
- She needed someone trustworthy to manage her business
- She had heard about Muhammad’s (ﷺ) honesty
Working for Khadijah:
- Khadijah hired Muhammad (ﷺ) to manage her trade
- He took her goods to Syria and other places
- He made good profits for her business
- He was completely honest with her money
- Khadijah was very pleased with his work
The Marriage Proposal
Khadijah’s Decision:
- Khadijah saw Muhammad’s (ﷺ) good character
- She liked his honesty and kindness
- She decided she wanted to marry him
- She asked her friend to suggest the marriage
- Muhammad (ﷺ) agreed happily
The Marriage:
- Muhammad (ﷺ) was 25 years old
- Khadijah was 40 years old
- They had a beautiful wedding
- They were very happy together
- Khadijah became his first wife and best supporter
Lessons from This Period
Lesson 1: Dealing with Sadness
- Muhammad (ﷺ) lost his parents but didn’t become bitter
- He accepted Allah’s will with patience
- We should be patient when sad things happen
- Family members should help orphans
Lesson 2: Good Character
- Being honest makes people trust you
- Good behavior brings respect
- Always tell the truth in business and life
- Treat everyone with kindness
Lesson 3: Hard Work
- Muhammad (ﷺ) worked hard to earn money
- He learned skills that helped him
- Hard work brings success
- We should learn useful skills
Lesson 4: Honesty in Business
- Never cheat in buying or selling
- Give fair prices to customers
- Keep money and goods safe for others
- Good business builds trust
Lesson 5: Good Marriage
- Choose partners with good character
- Age difference doesn’t matter if both are good
- Support each other in good work
