Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Narrate the history of Prophet Yūsuf with reference to his father’s love for him
- Examine the lessons contained in the history of Prophet Yūsuf with reference to his dream and relationship with his brothers
- Apply these lessons to daily activities with reference to his stand against temptation
Materials Needed
- Story book about Prophet Yūsuf
- Pictures showing dreams and stars
- Colorful well illustration
- Simple costume for role play
Introduction
- Greet with “Assalamu Alaikum”
- Ask: “Who has beautiful dreams at night?”
- Tell pupils about a Prophet who had a very special dream
- Introduce Prophet Yūsuf as one of the most handsome Prophets
Main Content
Who Was Prophet Yūsuf (AS)?
- Son of Prophet Ya’qub (Jacob)
- Very handsome and intelligent
- Had 11 brothers
- Allah gave him special wisdom
- His story is in the Qur’an (Chapter 12)
His Father’s Special Love
Ya’qub’s Love for Yūsuf:
- Ya’qub loved all his children
- But he had special love for Yūsuf
- Yūsuf was very obedient and good
- He helped his father and was respectful
- This made Ya’qub very happy
Why Ya’qub Loved Yūsuf:
- Yūsuf was kind and gentle
- He always told the truth
- He obeyed his father quickly
- He took care of sheep very well
- He had beautiful character
Yūsuf’s Amazing Dream
The Dream:
- Yūsuf dreamed he saw 11 stars, the sun, and moon
- All of them were bowing down to him
- He was excited and told his father
- Ya’qub understood this was a special sign from Allah
Ya’qub’s Advice:
- “Don’t tell your brothers about this dream”
- “They might become jealous”
- “Allah will make you a great Prophet”
- “This dream will come true one day”
Problems with His Brothers
The Brothers’ Jealousy:
- The brothers saw their father’s love for Yūsuf
- They became jealous and angry
- They thought their father loved Yūsuf more than them
- They made a bad plan to hurt Yūsuf
The Evil Plan:
- Brothers asked to take Yūsuf out to play
- Ya’qub was worried but agreed
- They took Yūsuf to a deep well
- They threw him into the well
- They lied to their father that a wolf ate Yūsuf
Yūsuf’s Stand Against Temptation
In Egypt:
- Allah saved Yūsuf from the well
- A caravan found him and took him to Egypt
- He was sold as a slave to a rich man
- The man’s wife tried to make him do wrong things
- But Yūsuf refused because he feared Allah
Yūsuf’s Strength:
- Even though he was young and handsome
- Even though the woman was powerful
- Yūsuf chose to obey Allah
- He said: “I seek refuge in Allah”
- He ran away from the bad situation
Important Lessons from Yūsuf’s Story
Lesson 1: Family Love
- Parents may love children differently, but they love all
- We should not be jealous of our siblings
- Love your family even when you feel left out
Lesson 2: Dealing with Dreams
- Special dreams can be messages from Allah
- Don’t boast about good things that happen to you
- Share your good news carefully
Lesson 3: Handling Jealousy
- Jealousy can make people do terrible things
- Don’t let jealousy control your actions
- Be happy when good things happen to others

- Always choose what Allah wants, not what people want
