Who Was Prophet Ibrahim (AS)?

About Prophet Ibrahim:

  • Prophet Ibrahim was one of the greatest Prophets of Allah
  • He is called “Khalil Allah” (Friend of Allah)
  • He lived in a city where people worshipped idols
  • Allah chose him to guide people to worship only Allah
  • He is the father of Prophet Ismail and Prophet Is-haq
  • Muslims, Christians, and Jews all respect him

Ibrahim’s Stand Against Idol Worship

The Problem in His Community:

  • People in Ibrahim’s city worshipped many idols (statues)
  • They made these idols from stone and wood
  • People thought idols could help them and answer prayers
  • Even Ibrahim’s father, Azar, made and sold idols
  • Ibrahim knew this was wrong

Ibrahim’s Questions:

  • As a young man, Ibrahim wondered about worship
  • He looked at the stars, moon, and sun
  • He said: “These things set and disappear, so they cannot be God”
  • He realized only Allah, who created everything, deserves worship
  • He decided to teach his people this truth

Breaking the Idols:

  • One day, when people went to a festival, Ibrahim stayed behind
  • He went to the temple where all the idols were kept
  • He broke all the small idols with an axe
  • He left the biggest idol untouched
  • He put the axe next to the big idol

Ibrahim’s Triumph Over Idol Worshippers

When People Returned:

  • People found their idols broken and were very angry
  • They suspected Ibrahim because he always spoke against idols
  • They brought Ibrahim to court
  • Ibrahim was not afraid because he knew Allah was with him

Ibrahim’s Clever Response:

  • People asked: “Did you break our idols, Ibrahim?”
  • Ibrahim pointed to the big idol and said: “Ask this one, he did it!”
  • “But you know idols cannot speak!” they replied
  • Ibrahim said: “Then why do you worship things that cannot speak, hear, or help you?”
  • The people realized their mistake but were too proud to admit it

The Fire Test:

  • Angry people decided to burn Ibrahim alive
  • They built a huge fire
  • They threw Ibrahim into the fire
  • But Allah commanded the fire: “O fire, be cool and safe for Ibrahim!”
  • Ibrahim came out of the fire without any burns
  • This miracle amazed everyone and proved Allah’s power

Ibrahim’s Obedience to Allah

The Dream Test:

  • Allah tested Ibrahim’s obedience through a dream
  • In the dream, Allah asked Ibrahim to sacrifice his beloved son Ismail
  • This was the hardest test for any father
  • Ibrahim loved Ismail very much but loved Allah more
  • He decided to obey Allah’s command

Preparing for Sacrifice:

  • Ibrahim told Ismail about the dream
  • Ismail said: “Father, do what Allah has commanded”
  • Both father and son showed perfect obedience
  • As Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son, Allah stopped him
  • Allah sent a ram (sheep) to sacrifice instead
  • This showed that Allah was only testing their obedience

Persecution and Accepting Allah’s Will

Types of Persecution Ibrahim Faced:

  • People mocked him for his beliefs
  • His own father rejected him
  • People tried to kill him by throwing him in fire
  • He had to leave his homeland
  • He was tested with difficult commands from Allah

How Ibrahim Accepted Allah’s Will:
