Recitation and Translation
Arabic Text and Pronunciation
Verse 1: أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ Alam nashrah laka sadraka
Verse 2: وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ Wa wada’nā ‘anka wizraka
Verse 3: الَّذِي أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ Alladhī anqada zahraka
Verse 4: وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ Wa rafa’nā laka dhikraka
Verse 5: فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا Fa-inna ma’a’l-‘usri yusrā
Verse 6: إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا Inna ma’a’l-‘usri yusrā
Verse 7: فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانصَبْ Fa-idhā faraghta fansab
Verse 8: وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَب Wa ilā rabbika farghab
English Translation
Verse 1: “Did We not expand for you your chest?”
Verse 2: “And We removed from you your burden”
Verse 3: “Which had weighed upon your back”
Verse 4: “And raised high for you your reputation”
Verse 5: “For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease”
Verse 6: “Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease”
Verse 7: “So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]”
Verse 8: “And to your Lord direct [your] longing”
