Introduction:

Children, have you seen the big coloured lights on the road? These lights help cars and people know when to move or stop. Let us learn about them today.

Lesson Content:

What are Traffic Lights?

• Traffic lights are tall poles with coloured lights
• They stand at road crossings
• They help control cars and people
• They have three main colours

The Three Traffic Light Colours:

1. RED LIGHT 🔴

• Meaning: STOP! Do not move
• For Cars: All cars must stop and wait
• For People: Do not cross the road
• Remember: Red means DANGER – STOP!

2. YELLOW/AMBER LIGHT 🟡

• Meaning: GET READY to stop
• For Cars: Slow down and prepare to stop
• For People: Do not start crossing
• Remember: Yellow means BE CAREFUL!

3. GREEN LIGHT 🟢

• Meaning: GO! It is safe to move
• For Cars: Cars can drive forward
• For People: You can cross the road carefully
• Remember: Green means GO SAFELY!

Safety Rules with Traffic Lights:

1. Always look at the traffic light before crossing
2. Only cross when the light is green
3. Look left and right even when light is green
4. Hold an adult’s hand when crossing
5. Never run across the road
6. Wait for the light to change if it is red or yellow

Class Activity:

Teacher shows coloured cards (red, yellow, green). When red is shown, children sit down. When yellow is shown, children get ready to stand. When green is shown, children stand up and march in place.
