Content
What is High Jump? High jump is an athletic field event where athletes try to jump over a horizontal bar at the highest possible height.

Jumping Activities (Review)
- Jump and reach – stretching to touch high objects
- Jump and touch – touching targets at different heights
- Jumping on the spot – vertical jumping
- Box jumps – jumping onto raised platforms
Basic Phases of High Jump
- Approach Run – Curved or straight run toward the bar (7-9 steps)
- Take-off – Jumping with the outside foot
- Flight – Arching the body over the bar
- Landing – Landing on the back in the landing mat
- Recovery – Getting up safely from the mat
High Jump Techniques
- Scissors Jump – Simple technique for beginners
- Fosbury Flop – Modern technique (jumping backward over bar)
Differences Between Long Jump and High Jump
- Long jump: distance, horizontal, sand pit
- High jump: height, vertical, landing mat
Rules of High Jump
- Three attempts at each height
- Bar must not fall off
- Must take off with one foot
- No touching the bar during jump
- Heights increase gradually
Safety Measures
- Use proper landing mats
- Warm up thoroughly
- Practice technique before attempting heights
- Ensure bar is properly secured
- Land on back, not head or neck
- Teacher supervision required
