Content:

Energy is the ability to do work.

For example, when you ride a bike, your legs are using energy to pedal. When you turn on a light, the electricity running through the bulb is using energy to make the light shine. When a car drives down the road, the gas in the tank is using energy to power the engine.

All of these things are using energy to make something happen. And energy can be in many forms, like electricity, heat, light, and motion.

Energy Conversion

Energy can be converted from one form to another. Here are a few examples of energy conversion:

  1. Electric to heat: When you use an electric heater, the electric energy flows through the resistance to heat up the metal plate, which in turn presets the clothes. 
  2. Chemical to heat: When you light a match, the chemical energy in the matchstick is converted into heat energy, which causes the match to burn and produce heat. 
  3. Electric to mechanical: When you use a blender, the electric energy flows through the motor to turn the blades, which causes the food to be mixed and blend your food. 
  4. Solar electric: Solar panels absorb the energy from the sun and convert it into electricity for use in homes and buildings. 
  5. Chemical to electric: In a battery, the chemical energy stored in the metal reacts to create electricity when connected to an electronic device. 
  6. Mechanical to electric: When we use a bicycle dynamo, a pedal mechanism dam, the turbine’s mechanical energy is converted into electricity.
