Topic: Duties Towards Parents and Teachers

What We Will Learn Today

  • Why we should respect and obey our parents
  • Why we should respect and obey our teachers
  • What Islam teaches about honoring parents and teachers
  • How to show good behavior to them

Why Parents and Teachers Are Special

Our Parents:

  • They gave us life and take care of us
  • They feed, clothe, and protect us
  • They love us more than anyone else
  • They work hard to give us what we need
  • They worry about us when we’re sick or sad

Our Teachers:

  • They teach us important things
  • They help us learn and grow
  • They spend time helping us understand
  • They prepare us for the future
  • They care about our success

Both Are Special Because:

  • They sacrifice for us (give up things for our good)
  • They guide us to become better people
  • Allah has given them special positions in our lives

What Islam Says

About Parents:

  • Allah says in the Qur’ān: “Be kind to your parents”
  • Paradise is under your mother’s feet (Hadith)
  • Obeying parents is next to worshipping Allah
  • Making parents happy makes Allah happy
  • Hurting parents is a big sin

About Teachers:

  • Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “Respect those who teach you”
  • Teachers are like second parents
  • We should honor them like we honor parents
  • Learning is worship when we respect our teachers

The Connection:

  • Both parents and teachers raise us – parents raise our bodies, teachers raise our minds
  • Both deserve our love, respect, and obedience

Our Duties to Parents

Daily Duties:

  • Obey them when they ask you to do something good
  • Speak kindly – never shout or be rude
  • Help with house work when you can
  • Listen when they talk to you
  • Say thank you for what they do

Special Ways to Show Love:

  • Kiss them and say “I love you”
  • Bring them water or food when they’re tired
  • Make du’a for them every day
  • Study hard to make them proud
  • Take care of them when they’re old or sick

What NOT to Do:

  • Never say “Uff!” (showing annoyance)
  • Don’t argue or fight with them
  • Don’t lie to them
  • Don’t ignore them when they call you
  • Don’t waste the money they give you

Our Duties to Teachers

In the Classroom:

  • Listen carefully when they teach
  • Raise your hand to ask questions politely
  • Do your homework on time
  • Keep quiet when they’re talking
  • Follow classroom rules

Showing Respect:

  • Stand up when the teacher enters (if it’s the custom)
  • Greet them politely: “Good morning, teacher”
  • Say thank you when they help you
  • Speak respectfully – use “please” and “excuse me”
  • Help clean the classroom

Being a Good Student:

  • Come to school on time
  • Bring all your books and materials
  • Try your best in all subjects
  • Be honest about your work
  • Encourage other students to respect the teacher too

How They Are Similar

Both Parents and Teachers:

  • Teach us important things
  • Correct us when we make mistakes
  • Want the best for our future
  • Deserve our respect and gratitude
  • Should be obeyed in good things

Our Response Should Be:

  • Gratitude for everything they do
  • Obedience to their good instructions
  • Kindness in how we treat them
  • Prayers for their health and happiness

What We Learned

  • Parents and teachers are special people who sacrifice for our good
  • Islam teaches us to respect, obey, and be kind to both
