The Story

One day, Jesus was teaching His followers on a mountain. He told them something very special: “You are the salt of the earth.”

The people listening knew a lot about salt because they used it every day. Let’s learn what salt does:

What Salt Does:

• Adds flavor – makes food taste better
• Preserves food – keeps food from going bad
• Heals wounds – helps cuts get better
• Is always needed – every home must have salt

Jesus was telling His followers that they should be like salt in the world.

How Christians Are Like Salt:

1. We add “flavor” to life
   1. We bring joy and happiness
   2. We make life better for others
   3. We show God’s love
2. We preserve goodness
   1. We help stop bad things from spreading
   2. We stand up for what is right
   3. We protect others from harm
3. We help heal
   1. We comfort people who are sad
   2. We forgive those who hurt us
   3. We help solve problems
4. We are needed everywhere
   1. The world needs Christians
   2. We should go to all places
   3. People need to see God’s love through us

Jesus also warned that if salt loses its saltiness, it becomes useless. This means if Christians stop acting like Jesus, they can’t help the world anymore.
