Uri Ụmụaka (Children’s Songs)

Abu Mbụ: “Ọkụkọ na Ụmụ ya”

Ọkụkọ na-eti eti
Ụmụ ya na-agbaso ya
Ha na-achọ nri
N’ala na n’elu
Eti, eti, eti!
Ụmụ ọkụkọ na-aṅụrị!

Translation: The hen is clucking, her chicks follow her, they are looking for food, on the ground and above, cluck, cluck, cluck! The chicks are happy!

Abu Nke Abụọ: “Egwu Ọnụọgụgụ”

Otu, abụọ, atọ
Anọ, ise, isii
Asaa, asatọ, itoolu
Iri! Iri! Iri!
Ka anyị gụọ ọzọ
Site n’otu ruo iri!

Translation: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten! Ten! Ten! Let’s count again from one to ten!

Abu Nke Atọ: “Mmiri Ozuzo”

Mmiri ozuzo na-ezo
Pip, pip, pip!
Ụmụaka na-aṅụrị
Ha na-agba ọsọ
N’ime ụlọ
Ka ha ghara ịpụ mmiri!

Translation: The rain is falling, drip, drip, drip! Children are happy, they run inside the house so they don’t get wet!
