Akụkụ Ejije (Parts of Sentences)

Basic Sentence Structure

Onye + Omume + Ihe (Subject + Action + Object)

Examples:

• Nna + na-aga + ahịa = Nna is going to market
• Ada + na-ede + akwụkwọ = Ada is writing a book
• Ụmụ + na-egwu + egwuregwu = Children are playing games

Simple Sentence Patterns

Pattern 1: Onye + na-eme + Ihe

• Mama na-esi nri – Mother is cooking food

• Papa na-agụ akwụkwọ – Father is reading a book

• Nwata na-aṅụ mmiri – Child is drinking water

Pattern 2: Aha + dị + Ebe

• Akwụkwọ dị na tebụl – Book is on the table

• Nkịta dị n’ụlọ – Dog is in the house

• Ụgbọala dị n’okporo ụzọ – Car is on the road

Pattern 3: Onye + nwere + Ihe

• Ọ nwere ego – He/she has money
• M nwere ụlọ – I have a house
• Ha nwere ụmụ – They have children
