What is an Expository Essay?

An expository essay explains or informs about a topic. It gives facts, examples, and clear information without the writer’s personal opinion.

Structure of Expository Essay:

  1. Introduction – Introduce the topic
  2. Body paragraphs – Explain main points with examples
  3. Conclusion – Summarize the information

Sample Topic: “Strategies for Safe Water”

Introduction: Safe water is essential for human health and survival. Many communities around the world face challenges in accessing clean, safe drinking water. However, there are several effective strategies that can help ensure water safety for everyone.

Body Paragraph 1 – Water Treatment: The first strategy is proper water treatment. Boiling water for at least five minutes kills harmful bacteria and viruses. Adding water purification tablets or using water filters can also remove dangerous substances. Many communities have built water treatment plants that clean large amounts of water for public use.

Body Paragraph 2 – Water Storage: Another important strategy is safe water storage. Clean containers with tight lids prevent contamination from dust, insects, and bacteria. Regular cleaning of storage containers is essential. Communities should also protect water sources from pollution by keeping animals and waste away from wells and rivers.

Conclusion: In conclusion, ensuring safe water requires both individual actions and community efforts. Through proper treatment, safe storage, and source protection, communities can significantly reduce water-related diseases and improve public health.
