Reading Passage: “The School Sports Day”

“Today is our annual sports day at school. All the students are excited and wearing their colorful uniforms. There are many different events like running races, jumping competitions, and ball games. Parents and teachers are cheering loudly for their children. Everyone is having a wonderful time, and the atmosphere is full of joy and laughter.”
New Words from Passage
- annual – happening every year
- excited – feeling happy and eager
- colorful – having many bright colors
- events – activities or competitions
- competitions – contests where people try to win
- cheering – shouting support loudly
- atmosphere – the feeling or mood of a place
- laughter – the sound of people laughing
Reading Techniques
- Smooth Reading
- Don’t stop at every word
- Read in groups of words (phrases)
- Use proper tone and expression
- Expression Reading
- Change your voice for exciting parts
- Pause at commas and periods
- Show emotion in your voice
- Fluent Reading
- Read at a good speed (not too fast, not too slow)
- Pronounce words clearly
- Read with confidence
Word Building Activities
- Make compound words: sports + day = sports day
- Add endings: excite + ed = excited, color + ful = colorful
- Find root words: running (run), jumping (jump)
