What Are Carrying Tools?

Carrying or transportation tools are equipment used to move crops, farm products, tools, and materials from one place to another on the farm. They help farmers transport heavy loads easily.

Common Carrying/Transportation Tools

  1. Wheelbarrow

  • What it looks like: A cart with one wheel and two handles
  • What it does: Carries soil, crops, tools, and heavy materials
  • Best for: Moving things around the farm without carrying by hand
  1. Head Pan/Basin

  • What it looks like: Large, round, flat metal or plastic bowl
  • What it does: Carries crops, water, and farm products on the head
  • Best for: Transporting grains, fruits, and vegetables
  1. Sacks/Bags
  • What it looks like: Large cloth or plastic bags
  • What it does: Holds and carries harvested crops
  • Best for: Storing and moving rice, corn, beans, and other grains
  1. Tractor and Trailer

  • What it looks like: Large farm vehicle that pulls a cart
  • What it does: Moves very heavy loads and equipment
  • Best for: Transporting large amounts of crops to market
  1. Bicycle/Motorcycle

  • What it looks like: Two-wheeled vehicles
  • What it does: Carries people and farm products quickly
  • Best for: Going to market with produce or getting farm supplies
  1. Donkey/Animal Cart

  • What it looks like: Cart pulled by donkeys, oxen, or horses
  • What it does: Moves crops and materials using animal power
  • Best for: Areas where there are no roads for trucks

Why Are Transportation Tools Important?

  • They help move heavy things without hurting our backs
  • They save time and energy for farmers
  • They help get crops to market quickly and safely
  • They make farm work much easier
