Topic: Swimming
What is Swimming?
Swimming is moving through water using your arms and legs. It’s both a sport and an important life skill.
Basic Swimming Strokes
- Freestyle – moving arms one after the other

- Backstroke – swimming on your back

- Breaststroke – arms and legs move like a frog

- Butterfly – both arms move together over head

Swimming Safety Rules
Before Swimming:
- Adult supervision – always swim with grown-ups watching
- Check water depth – make sure it’s safe
- Warm up – stretch your body first
- No swimming alone – always have a buddy
While Swimming:
- Stay in shallow end if you’re learning
- Don’t run around the pool
- Listen to lifeguard or swimming teacher
- Call for help if in trouble
- Rest when you feel tired
Benefits of Swimming
- Full body exercise – uses all muscles
- Good for heart – makes heart strong
- Low injury risk – gentle on body
- Builds confidence – helps you feel brave
- Life skill – can save your life in water

- Swimsuit – special clothes for water

- Goggles – protect eyes underwater

- Swimming cap – keeps hair dry

- Kickboard – helps practice leg movements

- Life jacket – keeps you floating (for beginners)
