Content
Parts of a Book Review
Front Cover:
- Title – name of the book
- Author – person who wrote the book
- Illustrator – person who drew the pictures
- Publisher – company that made the book
Back Cover:
- Summary – short description of the story
- Author information – facts about who wrote it
- Price – how much the book costs
- Barcode – lines for scanning
Inside the Book:
- Table of contents – list of chapters
- Page numbers – numbers on each page
- Text – the words of the story
- Pictures – illustrations that help tell the story
Different Types of Print Resources
Books:
- Storybooks – fiction tales and adventures
- Textbooks – books for learning subjects
- Picture books – books with lots of illustrations
- Poetry books – collections of poems
Newspapers:
- Headlines – big titles of news stories
- Articles – news stories and information
- Pictures – photos of current events
- Advertisements – notices about products
Magazines:
- Cover stories – main articles featured
- Colorful pictures – bright photographs
- Different topics – various subjects in one issue
- Regular features – sections that appear every issue
How Text is Organized
Letter → Word → Sentence → Paragraph → Story
Example:
- Letters: a, b, c
- Word: cat
- Sentence: The cat is sleeping.
- Paragraph: The cat is sleeping on the mat. It is very comfortable. The cat dreams of fish.
- Story: Multiple paragraphs that tell a complete tale
