Topic: Teeth Brushing

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  • Know the correct way to brush teeth
  • Say why teeth brushing is important

Introduction:

Good morning boys and girls! Do you brush your teeth every day? Today we will learn the best way to keep our teeth clean and healthy.

Lesson Content:

Why We Brush Our Teeth:

  • To remove food pieces stuck in our teeth
  • To kill bad germs in our mouth
  • To keep our teeth white and strong
  • To have fresh breath
  • To prevent tooth pain and decay

When to Brush Our Teeth:

  • Morning: After waking up, before breakfast
  • Night: Before going to bed
  • After meals: If possible, rinse mouth after eating sweet things

What We Need for Brushing:

  • Soft toothbrush (child-size)

  • Toothpaste (small amount)

  • Clean water
  • Cup for rinsing

  • Clean towel

Correct Way to Brush Teeth:

Step 1: Prepare

  • Wet your toothbrush with clean water
  • Put a small amount of toothpaste (size of a pea)

Step 2: Brush the Outside

  • Hold brush at an angle
  • Move brush up and down gently
  • Clean all outside teeth surfaces

Step 3: Brush the Inside

  • Turn brush to clean inside of teeth
  • Move brush up and down
  • Clean behind all teeth

Step 4: Brush the Top

  • Clean the flat surfaces where you chew
  • Move brush back and forth gently
  • Clean all back teeth

Step 5: Clean Your Tongue

  • Gently brush your tongue
  • This removes germs and makes breath fresh

Step 6: Rinse and Finish

  • Spit out toothpaste foam
  • Rinse mouth with clean water
  • Rinse toothbrush and put it away

Important Rules:

  • Brush for 2 minutes (count to 120)
  • Do not swallow toothpaste
  • Use gentle movements, not hard scrubbing
  • Replace toothbrush every 3 months
  • Tell parents if teeth hurt

Class Activity:

Children practice brushing movements with their finger on their teeth. Teacher demonstrates proper technique.
