Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  • Say why cleanliness is important
  • Practice good cleanliness habits daily
  • Keep themselves and their environment clean

Introduction:

Good morning boys and girls! Being clean helps us stay healthy and feel good about ourselves. Today we will learn about keeping ourselves and our surroundings clean.

Lesson Content:

What is Cleanliness?

  • Cleanliness means being free from dirt and germs
  • It is keeping our body, clothes, and surroundings clean
  • It helps us stay healthy and look neat
  • Clean people feel good and confident

Personal Cleanliness:

Body Cleanliness:

  • Take bath or shower daily
  • Wash hands before eating and after toilet
  • Brush teeth twice daily (morning and night)
  • Cut nails short and keep them clean
  • Wash hair regularly
  • Change into clean clothes daily

Clothing Cleanliness:

  • Wear clean clothes every day
  • Change underwear daily
  • Wash dirty clothes regularly
  • Keep school uniform neat and clean
  • Hang clothes properly after wearing

Environmental Cleanliness:

At Home:

  • Keep bedroom tidy
  • Put toys away after playing
  • Throw rubbish in dustbin
  • Help sweep and mop floors
  • Keep toilet and bathroom clean

At School:

  • Keep desk and books neat
  • Throw waste paper in bin
  • Keep classroom floor clean
  • Maintain school compound
  • Use toilet properly

Benefits of Cleanliness:

Health Benefits:

  • Prevents diseases and sickness
  • Keeps germs away from our body
  • Helps us feel fresh and energetic
  • Prevents bad odors

Social Benefits:

  • People like to be around clean persons
  • We feel confident and happy
  • Teachers and friends appreciate us
  • We look smart and presentable

Daily Cleanliness Routine:

Morning:

  • Brush teeth after waking up
  • Take bath with soap
  • Wear clean clothes
  • Comb hair neatly

During Day:

  • Wash hands before meals
  • Keep workspace clean
  • Use handkerchief when needed

Evening:

  • Wash hands and feet when coming home
  • Change out of school clothes
  • Brush teeth before bed

Class Activity:

Children demonstrate proper hand washing technique. Practice organizing school bags and keeping desks tidy.
