1. MAIN FEATURES OF CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE

Religious Ceremony

Christian marriages are typically conducted in a church by a pastor or priest.

Vows

The couple exchanges vows to love and support each other.

Blessing

The marriage is blessed by a religious leader, often including prayers and readings from the Bible.

Witnesses

The presence of family, friends, and the church community as witnesses to the marriage.

Legal Recognition

Christian marriages are recognized by law and require a marriage certificate.

2. VALUES OF CHRISTIAN AND ISLAMIC MARRIAGES

Commitment

Both Christian and Islamic marriages emphasize the importance of commitment between the couple.

Faithfulness

Staying faithful to one’s partner is a key value in both religions.

Respect

Mutual respect between the husband and wife is highly valued.

Family

Both religions emphasize the importance of building a strong and loving family.

3. MAIN FEATURES OF MUSLIM MARRIAGE

Nikah Ceremony

The marriage is solemnized through a ceremony called Nikah, conducted by an Imam or religious leader.

Mahr

The groom provides a gift (Mahr) to the bride as part of the marriage agreement.

Witnesses

At least two male witnesses are required for the marriage to be valid.

Contract

A marriage contract is signed by both parties.

Religious and Legal Recognition

Muslim marriages are recognized both religiously and legally, and a marriage certificate is issued.

4. MAIN FEATURES OF MARRIAGE BY ORDINANCE

Civil Ceremony

Marriage by ordinance is a civil ceremony conducted by a government official, often in a registry office.

Legal Requirements

The marriage must meet legal requirements, including age and consent.

Marriage Certificate

A legal document is issued to recognize the marriage.

No Religious Requirement

Unlike religious marriages, marriage by ordinance does not require a religious ceremony.

Witnesses

Witnesses are required to sign the marriage register.
