Ranakun Mako (Days of the Week)

The Seven Days

  1. Lahadi – Sunday
  2. Litinin – Monday
  3. Talata – Tuesday
  4. Laraba – Wednesday
  5. Alhamis – Thursday
  6. Jumma’a – Friday
  7. Asabar – Saturday

What We Do on Different Days

Lahadi (Sunday):

  • Muna zuwa coci/masallaci – We go to church/mosque
  • Muna hutawa – We rest
  • Muna wasa – We play

Litinin zuwa Alhamis (Monday to Thursday):

  • Muna zuwa makaranta – We go to school
  • Muna yin karatu – We study
  • Muna yin aikin gida – We do homework

Jumma’a (Friday):

  • Muna zuwa masallaci – We go to mosque
  • Muna yin sallah – We pray

Asabar (Saturday):

  • Muna taimakawa a gida – We help at home
  • Muna wasa da abokani – We play with friends

Common Expressions

  • Yau Litinin ne – Today is Monday
  • Gobe Talata ce – Tomorrow is Tuesday
  • Jiya Lahadi ne – Yesterday was Sunday
  • Mako guda yana da ranaku bakwai – One week has seven days
