What is Microsoft Word?
Microsoft Word is a computer program used for typing letters, stories, and documents. It helps us write and make our writing look nice.
How to Launch (Start) Microsoft Word
Method 1 – Start Menu:
- Click the Start button (usually bottom left corner)
- Look for All Programs or Apps
- Find Microsoft Office folder
- Click on Microsoft Word
Method 2 – Desktop Icon:
- Look for Word icon on desktop (looks like a blue “W”)
- Double-click on the icon
- Word will open automatically
Method 3 – Taskbar:
- Look at bottom of screen for Word icon
- Single-click on the icon
- Word opens immediately
What You See When Word Opens
- Blank white page – where you type
- Cursor – blinking line showing where to type
- Toolbar – buttons at the top for different actions
- Menu bar – File, Edit, View, Insert options
Basic Things You Can Do
- Type text – just start typing on the white page
- Change font size – make letters bigger or smaller
- Make text bold – make words darker and thicker
- Save your work – keep your document safe
- Print – make a paper copy
