Fill in missing numbers:

  • 686, 687, _____, 689, _____
  • 695, _____, 697, _____, 699
  • _____, 682, _____, 684, _____

B. WRITING SKILL: WRITING OF THE NUMBERS

Write in words:

  • 681 = Six hundred and eighty-one
  • 685 = Six hundred and eighty-five
  • 690 = Six hundred and ninety
  • 695 = Six hundred and ninety-five

  • Six hundred and eighty-three = _______
  • Six hundred and eighty-eight = _______
  • Six hundred and ninety-two = _______
  • Six hundred and ninety-seven = _______
  • Six hundred and ninety-nine = _______

C. EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS

What are equivalent fractions? Equivalent fractions are fractions that have the same value but look different.

Examples:

  • 1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6
  • 1/3 = 2/6
  • 1/4 = 2/8

Visual representation: â–¡â–  = 1/2 â–¡â– â–¡â–  = 2/4 (same as 1/2)

Practice:

  1. 1/2 = ___/4
  2. 1/3 = ___/6
  3. 2/4 = ___/2
  4. 3/6 = ___/2
  1. ORDERING OF FRACTIONS

Comparing fractions with same denominators: When denominators are the same, compare numerators:

  • 1/4 < 2/4 < 3/4
  • 1/5 < 2/5 < 3/5 < 4/5

Comparing unit fractions: When numerators are 1, the larger denominator means smaller fraction:

  • 1/2 > 1/3 > 1/4 > 1/5

Practice ordering:

  1. Arrange from smallest to biggest: 3/5, 1/5, 4/5, 2/5 Answer: _______
  2. Arrange from biggest to smallest: 1/2, 1/4, 1/3 Answer: _______
  1. ADDING FRACTIONS OF THE SAME DENOMINATORS

Rule: When denominators are the same, add the numerators only.

Examples:

  • 1/4 + 2/4 = 3/4
  • 2/5 + 1/5 = 3/5
  • 1/3 + 1/3 = 2/3

Step by step: 1/4 + 2/4:

  • Same denominator (4)
  • Add numerators: 1 + 2 = 3
  • Answer: 3/4

Practice addition:

  1. 1/5 + 2/5 = _____
  2. 2/6 + 1/6 = _____
  3. 1/8 + 3/8 = _____
  4. 2/7 + 3/7 = _____
  5. 1/4 + 1/4 = _____
  1. QUANTITATIVE REASONING

Fraction word problems:

  1. Kemi ate 1/4 of a cake and Tolu ate 2/4 of the same cake. What fraction did they eat together?
  2. Ada read 2/5 of a book on Monday and 1/5 on Tuesday. What fraction has she read so far?
  3. A farmer used 3/8 of his land for yam and 2/8 for cassava. What fraction of land did he use in total?

Missing fractions:

  1. 1/3 + _____ = 3/3
  2. 2/5 + _____ = 4/5
  3. _____ + 1/4 = 3/4

True or False:

  1. 1/2 = 2/4 _____
  2. 3/4 > 1/4 _____
  3. 1/5 + 2/5 = 3/5 _____
  4. 1/3 > 1/2 _____
